1 killed in crash along I-79 in South Fayette

SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One person is dead and another was injured in a crash along I-79 in South Fayette Township early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes on the ramp to the Bridgeville rest stop.

According to state police, an SUV traveling northbound struck a tractor-trailer stopped on the right shoulder. The SUV spun out and struck a second tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder.

State police said the driver of the SUV, Travis Brown, 37, of Monroeville, was killed in the crash. A 28-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken to UPMC Mercy for suspected serious injuries.

No one else was injured in the crash.
