PITTSBURGH — Two men are dead after a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood.
Allegheny County 911 dispatchers confirm that first responders were called to the intersection of Brownsville Road and Linnview Avenue around 5:02 p.m.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson says officers were responding to a 12-round ShotSpotter when they found two men, ages 23 and 27, who’d both been shot in the chest and leg.
“The two victims were located on the sidewalk on Linnview avenue both about 10 feet away from each other. So it seemed like it was a close-quarters incident,” Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Eliza Durham said.
The men were given full blood transfusions and taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead, the spokesperson says.
Police recovered two guns at the scene. They haven’t released a description of a suspect but say that the person ran off via Nobles Lane after the shooting.
Sources tell Channel 11 that a person in a red jacket was seen running away from the area.
“That’s what people told me at the Carrick Inn down there. They told me that there was an active shooter up this way, and that’s why all the cops are up this way,” said Josh Hoover of Carrick.
“I was down there working, and I could hear the shots because they’re different. Fireworks are different than gunshots,” said Dave Kenney, who works nearby. “It was like three, four shots and then a pause and then three-to-four-four shots again.”
“I could see them from out my back driveway, them working on the guy and everything, so it was a pretty horrific scene,” Kenney added.
