LIVE UPDATES: Storms linger as Severe Thunderstorm Watch cleared for most of the area

PITTSBURGH — UPDATE 11:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service has cleared a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the area.

UPDATE 10 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Allegheny, Washington and Beaver counties until 10:15 p.m.

UPDATE 9:40 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch covering all of our viewing area has been extended until midnight.

UPDATE: 9 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Lawrence, Butler, Venango and Mercer counties until 9:30 p.m.

UPDATE 8:45 p.m.: Lawrence County has been added to the Severe Thunderstorm Watch list until 10 p.m.

UPDATE 8:30 p.m.: All current warnings for our area have expired.

UPDATE 7:47 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Armstrong and Clarion counties until 8:15 p.m. Quarter-sized hail is possible with this storm, so move indoors if you are in the impacted area.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Armstrong, Clarion and Indiana counties until 8:15 p.m.

UPDATE: 7:40 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Allegheny, Armstrong and Butler Counties has been cancelled.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Allegheny, Butler and Armstrong counties until 7:45 p.m.

UPDATE 7:10 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Allegheny and Butler counties has been extended until 7:45 p.m.

UPDATE 6:55 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for part of Clarion County until 7:15 p.m.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for part of Westmoreland County until 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Allegheny, Butler and Beaver counties until 7:15 p.m.

UPDATE 6 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Washington and Beaver counties has expired.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Washington and Beaver counties until 6 p.m.

UPDATE 4 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Beaver, Butler, Armstrong, Indiana, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Fayette and Greene counties until 10 p.m. Sunday.

Strong to severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening. Make sure to stay weather aware, have a plan in place and have ways to receive severe weather alerts.

A cold front is crossing the area this afternoon through the evening, bringing scattered strong to severe storms. Severe storms are likely and could produce large hail and bring damaging wind gusts. Protect yourself from hail by moving indoors and staying away from windows.

Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Heavy pockets of rain are expected and will continue through the early overnight hours.

Much cooler air arrives behind this system on Monday with highs in the low 40s. Temperatures tumble on Monday night into Tuesday morning, with lows in the 20s. More sunshine is expected on Tuesday with highs back in the 50s by midweek. The next chance for rain comes late Wednesday night and Thursday.
