PITTSBURGH — Like its fellow tenants at the Gulf Tower, Aligned Partners Trust Co. is leaving as the downtown building embarks on its transformation from office tower to residence/hotel.

The building has been home to Aligned Partners since its 2000 launch. But you could say the trust company is departing in style.

The firm, which employs 12, will start its next chapter with two new offices — one north of the city and one downtown, John Schaffer, Aligned Partners president and an original founder, told the Business Times on Jan. 31. He didn’t have a specific date for the moves, but it will be soon.

“The lease runs out on May 31,” he said. “We have to be out.”

A Pennsylvania trust company, Aligned Partners is regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking & Securities, and its application with the state to change its principal place of business from 707 Grant Street to 1601 Carmody Court, Sewickley, recently surfaced.
