RANKIN, Pa. — At least one stolen gun was seized during the execution of a search warrant at the home of Rankin’s mayor last month, according to Channel 11 sources and Allegheny County Police. That search warrant was part of an investigation into an incident that happened in early March in which shots were fired into Mayor Joelisa McDonald’s home. According to Channel 11 sources, the mayor’s juvenile son posted a video to social media which appears to show bullet holes and shattered glass, and then the teen starts to dance with a caption on the video saying, “when they shoot up your house, but only hit windows and bricks.”

According to our sources, the mayor’s son is now in the Shuman Detention Center. He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a minor, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence. Emails from Channel 11 to Mayor McDonald were not answered on Wednesday. Mayor McDonald joined a meeting of the Eastern Mon Valley Police Commission by phone Wednesday night, but did not address the shots fired into her home or the stolen gun being found inside.

No one was injured in the shooting incident in early March, which was not the first time the mayor’s house has been targeted. In 2023, Channel 11 told you someone shot at the mayor’s home nearly 10 times.
