PITTSBURGH — A wintry mix of rain and snow will start the weekend but temperatures will be above freezing for most areas so any snow that falls will likely melt. Aside from some slushy accumulation in steadier bursts of snow, most roads will stay wet.
Temperatures will continue to warm through the afternoon changing any rain snow mix to all rain before ending as the system moves out late day.
Colder air settles in Sunday and another quick moving southern system will push snow back into the area by Sunday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected to fall south of I-70 in West Virginia and Maryland, but this system has been trending further north and could impact parts of our area with several inches of snow.
Then, gear up for an even colder forecast to start the week. Temperatures plummet by Monday morning with wind chills as cold as -10, with subzero wind chills for much of Tuesday and into at least early Wednesday.
