Cloudy skies, light rain possible on Sunday

PITTSBURGH — It will be mainly clear early this evening, temperatures drop through the 20s. Clouds will increase late tonight keeping temperatures in the low 20s and upper teens.

Sunday will feature clouds with a slow rise in temperatures through the day as a weak disturbance passes by just to our north. This system will bring light precipitation to our northern counties in the afternoon. Light rain showers are possible around the Pittsburgh area with temperatures in the low 40s but areas near Route 422 and north will be slightly colder and may see a rain/snow mix. Slick spots can’t be ruled out around I-80 and north along with areas in northern Armstrong and Indiana counties late Sunday afternoon/evening. Locations south of Pittsburgh will be slightly warmer, still cloudy but mostly dry.

The work week will kick off with warmer marks, clouds and a bit of a breeze with gusts up to 20 mph. This southwesterly wind will push temperatures into the mid to upper 50s but they won’t stay there for long.  Cooler air will fill back by Tuesday and stick around into Wednesday morning. The next system will move in overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, it may start with a little snow or a snow/rain mix early before changing to rain through the day. High temperatures Wednesday afternoon will be in the low 40s and then back to the 50s for Thursday with more rain expected.
