MCKEESPORT, Pa. — A year after Bryant Boyd was fatally shot outside a restaurant in McKeesport, Allegheny County police are releasing new surveillance video in hopes of generating fresh leads.
Boyd was gunned down in June 2024 as he exited Cal’s Cantina. On Tuesday, detectives confirmed that Boyd was not the intended target of the shooting.
“I got to see his last moments on this earth,” said Lena Talley, Boyd’s sister. “It was hard — and to know he wasn’t the intended target. I wish nobody was the target, period.”
That surveillance footage shows gunfire erupting outside the restaurant, followed by two suspects fleeing into a maroon Chevrolet. Investigators said the vehicle had been stolen from McKeesport and was later recovered in North Versailles.
“Knowing that he wasn’t the target makes it worse,” said Boyd’s daughter, Tiffanique Gadsden. “It doesn’t bring much peace. We are just trying to live with the new reality of what it is.”
The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, as they still deal with their own grief.
“There are people that are still hurting and mourning,” said Talley. “If anybody has information and is still sitting on it, that just makes it sad. No one should have the burden of not speaking up.”
County police are asking anyone with information can contact the Allegheny County Police Department’s tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
Boyd’s family says they are leaning on faith and the public’s help as they continue their search for answers.
“Just praying on it every day,” said Gadsden.
