It is a celebration of the beginning of a new year based on Lunisolar calendars.
The 2025 Greater Pittsburgh Lunar New Year Fair was held Sunday afternoon. The art museum and CASTP, Pittsburgh’s largest Chinese-American community organization, co-hosted it.
The fair celebrated Chinese music, dance and art. Visitors could try traditional string instruments or calligraphy.
Organizers said most of the performers were Pittsburgh-based.
In the Chinese Zodiac, this is the year of the snake.
“For us, Lunar New Year is about getting together and the year of the snake symbolizes renewal and resilience so we’re excited to celebrate together,” CASTP Co-President Carrie Xu said.
The Lunar New Year officially begins on Wednesday.
