CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Hazmat crews were called to a business in Cranberry Township on Wednesday for an accidental acid spill.
The call regarding the incident at 770 Commonwealth Drive was received by 911 at approximately 9:17 a.m.
Cranberry Fire Chief Scott Garing said it was nitric acid that was spilled, which caused a red vapor cloud.
Employees were evacuated from the building, and hazmat was called in.
Garing said the situation was contained and controlled by hazmat crews in one room.
A third-party contractor was called in to clean up the spill.
The business is Fresenius Kabi USA, which, according to its website, is a global healthcare company that specializes in lifesaving medicines and technologies for infusion, transfusion, and clinical nutrition.
