PITTSBURGH — Hazmat units responded to UPMC Mercy Pavilion in Uptown after a package with a powdery substance was found inside on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the package, along with a threatening note, was found inside an office and was called in to 911 by an employee around 9 a.m.
A spokesperson for UPMC said the letter with the substance was tested and determined to be flour.
The Mercy Pavilion entrance of the hospital was closed as a precaution, and certain floors and individuals were evacuated.
Normal operations have since resumed.
