2 women killed in head-on crash in Forward Township

FORWARD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two people were killed in a crash that had a major Butler County roadway closed for around four hours.

The crash along Evans City Road (Route 68) happened around 10:44 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police said a 2019 Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on Evans City Road and a 2014 Cadillac XTS was traveling east.

Troopers said the Jeep crossed the double yellow line and hit the Cadillac head-on.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Kathryn J. McGown, 69, of Evans City was driving the Jeep and Marcia D. Carnahan, 80, of Slippery Rock was driving the Cadillac.

Police said McGown was not wearing a seatbelt and Carnahan was.

Troopers said the investigation is ongoing.
