Man accused of stealing car with local veteran’s dog inside back in Pennsylvania

GREENSBURG, Pa. — A man accused of stealing a veteran’s car with a beloved dog still inside is back in Western Pennsylvania.

Kenneth Crider was silent as state troopers walked him into the Greensburg State Police barracks on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s the first time we’ve seen him after he was taken into custody in September of last year — a week after police say he stole an 87-year-old Westmoreland County man’s car with his beloved dog, Lucky, still inside.

“He could have made a decision to just let the dog go, or he could have dropped that dog off anywhere,” state police Trooper Steve Limani told Channel 11.

A week later, officers arrested Crider in North Carolina after a high-speed chase, but Lucky was nowhere to be found.

To this day, no one knows where Lucky is or if he is still alive.

The search for Lucky spanned across the country — with t-shirts, billboards, and a Facebook page dedicated to finding him.

“I pray that we get lucky in general.. we get lucky and we get him back,” Limani said.

Police say Crider originally told officers that he let the dog off at a rest stop in North Carolina, but there haven’t been any sightings.
