Man hit, killed by car in Butler County; another man facing DUI, homicide by vehicle charges

CONNOQUENESSING TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is dead after being hit by a car in Butler County and another man is facing charges.

Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened on the 100 block of Lower Harmony Road in Connoquenessing Township at 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday.

Troopers said Robert D. Pflugh, 58, of Butler, was driving a 2006 Saturn Ion when he left the lane he was traveling in and hit a mailbox. He continued past the mailbox and hit Donald B. Phipps, 65, who was standing in his driveway.

Police said Phipps was pronounced dead at the scene.

Plfugh has since been charged with DUI and homicide by vehicle. He is being held at the Butler County Jail.
