I-79 northbound was completely closed at the Warrendale (Exit 75) interchange after the crash. The road had fully reopened by 3 p.m.
Emergency crews were called to the area at 10:29 a.m., an Allegheny County 911 supervisor says.
According to early reports, state police say, a tanker truck was driving southbound when it clipped a tractor-trailer/box truck that was also driving south.
This caused the tractor-trailer to cross into the northbound lanes, where it crashed into a van head-on, police say.
Three people were taken to the hospital from the scene, including two from the van and another from the truck, police say.
We are currently on scene of a major crash on I79 North by Warrendale.
