PITTSBURGH — A porch pirate is targeting homes on Evandale Street in Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.
Neighbors tell Channel 11 they feel violated and are frustrated.
On Tuesday, Channel 11 received several doorbell camera videos of someone taking packages from the porches.
We blurred the woman’s face because we have not confirmed that she is a suspect, but her image was captured no fewer than three times on three separate doorbell cameras.
“This happened three times Saturday, alone,” one woman told us. She’s lived on the road for more than two decades and now lives across the street from her daughter. They were out shopping Saturday when they received doorbell alerts.
“We saw packages being taken,” she said. “We have a quiet street. Everybody knows everybody. And this is what we’re dealing with, and she’s in broad daylight doing it.”
Neighbors tell us items stolen include iPads, shoes, computers and medication.
Further down the road, Theresa Williams is looking out for her neighbors.
“[My neighbor] constantly gets packages stolen, so she’ll call me and say, ‘hey, I got packages, can you get them for me?’,” Williams said.
Williams was the victim of a porch theft a couple of months ago.
“I have my camera now, so [as to] try to cut down on that,” she said.
Other neighbors have also installed cameras.
We showed Williams pictures taken from the other doorbell cameras on Saturday.
“I do not recognize this person, but she needs to be caught because it does look like the same person.”
Pittsburgh Police are urging anyone who may have been affected to contact them and file a report.
