ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — An officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Allegheny County.
The Allegheny County Police Department says the shooting happened in the 1100 block of Penn Center Boulevard in Wilkins Township.
During a press conference, police said an armed man threatened a maintenance worker in an apartment building.
Staff then called police, and ACPD says multiple departments responded. Once officers got on scene, they found an armed man in a garage.
Officers ordered him to drop the gun, but he refused, ACPD said. A Churchill officer fired a less-than-lethal round to try and subdue him, but he instead fired his own gun once toward officers.
Two other Churchill officers returned fire, shooting the suspect multiple times.
At 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Allegheny County Police identified the suspect as Khalil Collier, 31. He was last listed in critical condition.
Collier faces charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and persons not to possess a firearm.
