The investigation into the burglary is still ongoing, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.

The burglary comes after a string of similar incidents across multiple professional sports leagues. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce had their homes burglarized while they were playing away from their home city, as well as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Dallas Mavericks player Luka Doncic, Milwaukee Bucks star Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves player Mike Conley Jr. ESPN also reports Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin had his home burglarized in November 2024.

Evgeni Malkin released the following statement about the burglary:

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Allegheny County Police, the Sewickley Heights Police and the entire Penguins organization. The outpouring of support and concern from my teammates and fans over the past few days means so much to my family and I.”
