LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania mom is facing charges after police say she handcuffed her son to a fuel tank as a punishment for eating too many hot dogs.

NBC affiliate WGAL reports Chazzity Candelario, 33, is charged with false imprisonment, unlawful restraint and endangering the welfare of a child.

Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf said this type of punishment wasn’t out of the ordinary for the 11-year-old boy, WGAL said.

WGAL reports this incident happened on Jan. 11, when Candelario woke the boy up at 5 a.m. and told him he violated a house rule about how much food the children are allowed to eat. She is then accused of taking him to the basement and handcuffing him to the fuel tank.

The child was trapped handcuffed to the fuel tank in the cold basement for hours, the district attorney told WGAL.

Hess Graf also told WGAL that the boy was able to get free from the fuel tank but re-cuffed himself to his bunk bed in his room. He went 17 hours without food, water or using the bathroom before he got a cell phone from his sibling and called 911.

Candelario being held in Lebanon County Prison. Her bail is set at $100,000.
