GROVE CITY, Pa. — A report of an armed person on Grove City College’s campus on Sunday is believed to be a hoax, police say.
Grove City police say a call came in at 3:55 p.m. from an unknown person, claiming a man with a gun was at the college library.
Grove City College officials say police responded immediately, the library was evacuated and people were told to shelter in place.
After clearing campus buildings and reviewing security footage, no evidence was found to confirm the reports, officials say. An all clear was issued for the campus at 6:40 p.m.
Police on scene tell Channel 11 that “all indications point to a hoax,” and the incident is being considered a case of swatting.
State police say the call is believed to be computer-generated. Anyone with information is told to call state police at (724) 748-0044.
