Temperatures drop to near seasonal Tuesday; cold rain, wintry mix develops late Wednesday

PITTSBURGH — Tuesday will feel more like winter, so grab the winter coat before you head out. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s with wind chills in the upper 20s.

The next system will bring cold rain and a wintry mix to the area late Wednesday through Thursday with snow and freezing rain possible, especially north and east of Pittsburgh.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect late Wednesday through Thursday morning for Venango, Forest, Clarion and Jefferson counties as well as the higher elevations of Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties where the threat for icy roads will be higher.

Areas from Pittsburgh south are more likely to see a cold rain Thursday with less of an ice threat, however, a shift in the storm track could bring icy travel to a bigger part of the viewing area.
