PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 has obtained surveillance video showing the moments before and after a man was gunned down in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood.
Steve Robertson, 33 of Squirrel Hill, was killed in the shooting, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Surveillance video shows a line outside of a bar in the 1200 block of East Carson Street when a single gunshot can be heard. Some people run, and Pittsburgh Police head in the direction of the gunfire. They found Robertson shot in the neck.
Channel 11 sources said as police were trying to help Robertson, a white sedan sped off, as seen on video, which could be a key piece of evidence in this investigation.
This comes just one week after another deadly shooting across the street, where a woman was shot and killed inside a barbershop. A second woman was arrested and charged in that shooting.
Neighbors said two shootings in eight days make them feel uneasy and are hoping for an end to the recent violence.
“I love the South Side, and I love the people here. They’re really great. It’s a wonderful community, so yeah, I just want to be safe,” said Kimberly Rhoades, who lives nearby.
The latest numbers from the South Side Entertainment Patrol show that the majority of non-traffic arrests were alcohol-related and smoking marijuana in public.
In the last six months, there have been two other incidents of shots being fired, but Pittsburgh Police said the last time a person was shot, prior to the October 4 shooting at an East Carson Street barbershop, was in March.
