PITTSBURGH — Two 15-year-olds are now behind bars after Pittsburgh Police said two businesses in South Side were robbed at knifepoint, and Pittsburgh police said surveillance video helped to identify them.

Police said Adrian Butera and Anthony Bennett robbed the BP gas station at the intersection of 10th and East Carson Streets, then held up the Glass Zone Vape Shop just a few blocks away Sunday night.
BP workers told police the two were wearing black hoodies and masks when they walked into the store around 8:30 p.m. Court documents say they showed knives and got away with money and tobacco products. A short time later, police said they held up Glass Zone, jumping over the counter and demanding money and THC items from the cashier before getting away.
The teens were caught after reports that two people were trying to get into parked cars Wednesday night, according to police. Detectives immediately recognized the two as Butera and Bennett, saying they were wearing some of the same clothing seen in surveillance footage from Sunday night. The teens were arrested and admitted to the robberies.
“It’s horrible that they’re this young making these poor decisions,” said Ebony Singletary, who works in the South Side. “There’s so much more you could be doing with yourself, especially at 15 making these types of decisions and choices…you gotta do better.”
Bennett told police they didn’t get a lot of money at the BP, so that’s why the second robbery took place at Glass Zone. He said they were trying to get money to buy a gun for protection.
