Nearly 70K power outages reported locally as high winds hit the area

PITTSBURGH — Strong wind gusts have been blowing through the area, causing power outages for thousands of people.

Duquesne Light Company reported 50,114 customers without power as of 6:00 p.m.

Those outages by county are:

• Allegheny County - 43,864 power outages
• Beaver County - 6,254 power outages
• Butler County - 6 power outages

West Penn Power reports a total of 18,985 power outages in Pennsylvania.

Here’s how local counties had been impacted as of 3:30 p.m.

• Allegheny County - 1,316 power outages
• Beaver County - 301 power outages
• Butler County - 2,102 power outages
• Fayette County - 578 power outages
• Lawrence County - 1,498 power outages
• Washington County - 1,862 power outages
• Westmoreland County - 215 power outages
