PITTSBURGH — It will be dry and cold tonight, with temperatures falling from the upper 30s to the low 30s through the evening. Increasing clouds are expected overnight ahead of the next system that will bring a wintery mix to the area Sunday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Indiana, Clarion, Forest, Venango and the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette counties from 4 a.m. to noon on Sunday. The leading edge of precipitation will move in after 7 a.m. Sunday morning with a brief period of freezing rain including some as well in Allegheny County but mainly for the areas north and east in the Winter Weather Advisory. Freezing rain will impact areas creating icy or slippery roads, bridges and sideways mainly before noon. Use caution and check the forecast and conditions before heading out. Freezing rain will change to light rain showers in the afternoon as temperatures warm up to the upper 30s to around 40 degrees. However, freezing rain and snow will linger longer east in the mountains of PA, WV and MD where the Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Sunday morning through Monday morning.
Milder air takes over early next week, it will stay unsettled and breezy with another round of rain expected by Monday afternoon and then again late Monday night.
