PITTSBURGH — A man was caught on camera literally tearing apart AC units in the back of a local business Tuesday morning and taking off with the materials he wanted.
This happened just outside of Angelea Kuruc’s bridal boutique, Blanc de Blanc on Brownsville Road in Carrick. She said she got an early morning phone call from an employee.
“It is hard and to wake up to an employee calling, telling me someone is in the back, literally taking apart our property is just ridiculous,” Kuruc said.
Kuruc currently doesn’t have AC in the building and her boutique feels muggy. She has been in touch with an HVAC company and hopes to have air by tonight or tomorrow.
“They’re heavy dresses,” Kuruc said. “We have girls starting their alteration process. They’re standing under the lights for an hour. Hopefully, we don’t have anyone feeling woozy. We’re going to try to keep it as cool as possible.”
If feeling violated wasn’t bad enough, the cost of repairs is tough for a small business.
“With the economy these days, having to fork over thousands of dollars, maybe even tens of thousands of dollars to get everything back up and running, is hard,” Kuruc added.
Just down the street on Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh Recovery Center was also hit. What’s left of their AC unit is in a pile on the side of the building. The owner says the price tag is at least $8,000.
Kuruc wants her neighbors to know this is happening. This is what she would say to him if given the chance:
“What are you doing? Rethink your morals, stop stealing from people and maybe get a job!”
