Warhol shrinks its proposed Pop District performance venue with a revised design

Warhol Revised Design Proposed updated look of the Andy Warhol Museum as presented to the Pittsburgh Planning Commission (Pittsburgh Business Times)

PITTSBURGH — The Andy Warhol Museum’s 15 minutes of fame in front of the Pittsburgh Planning Commission is getting an encore presentation.

After the North Side museum was approved to build a new performance venue on the corner of General Robinson and Sandusky Street across the intersection from the museum in October 2023, the museum’s leadership and development team went before the commission in its first meeting of the new year with a more scaled down approach to the project.

Eric Booth, president of Lawrenceville-based Desmone Architects, presented a new plan to the commission that was reduced from four floors to three, eliminating office and event space and pulling the structure in from the street, eliminating what had been required zoning allowances for building height and set backs for what the architect said was a less expensive project.
