PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh police have arrested a woman accused of robbing the Panera Bread on Forbes Avenue in broad daylight on Monday morning.
Court documents said Keisha Cohen wrote a note to a Panera cashier around 11 a.m. Monday, demanding money, then walked out the door with it.
The cashier told police a woman, who was later identified as Cohen, came to her register and requested a pen and paper so she could write down her order. Court documents say instead, she wrote, ”Put the money in the bag and hand it over. I am armed and dangerous.” The cashier handed over $136 to Cohen, who then walked out with the money.
“I can’t even imagine. I’m just glad everyone is okay,’ said customer Lauren Layton. “That’s so unfortunate. I really wish them the best. They’re so kind here. I feel like I’ve established a bit of a rapport coming here every day.”
Police said surveillance video shows Cohen walking into the University of Pittsburgh’s Litchfield Towers, where her jacket was later found in a trash can. The video then shows her leaving the Towers and boarding a bus. Port Authority Police were able to track Cohen to the Waterfront, where she was taken into custody near Claire’s boutique.
She was arrested and faces several charges, including robbery, theft and making terroristic threats. Court documents say Cohen had a men’s watch, crack pipes, and other drug paraphernalia on her.
She remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
