Gusty storms moving through Western Pennsylvania overnight; light showers possible Thursday morning

PITTSBURGH — A line of gusty thunderstorms is pushing through eastern Ohio and will move into our area after 10 p.m.

TRACK THE STORMS WITH OUR INTERACTIVE RADAR

While the line is expected to gradually weaken, there may still be low-end risk for damaging winds, especially north of Pittsburgh where parameters are slightly higher. Any gusty showers should exit east of our area by around 1 a.m., with just a few showers possible Thursday morning.

The cold front approaches Thursday afternoon, bringing more numerous showers and thunderstorms again. The air won’t be quite as moisture laden as Tuesday, but there will be enough storms to warrant at least a low flood risk, especially over areas that are still very saturated. In addition, one or two storms may become severe.

Behind the Thursday front, we dry out and heat up quickly this weekend. A heat wave is likely as we start out next week, with heat indices possibly as high as 100 degrees by Monday or Tuesday. Stay tuned to Severe Weather Team 11 as we track the hottest air of the season.
